BOSTON, MA–(Marketwire – Oct 25, 2012) – Zephyr Technology, a world leader in remote physiologic monitoring, announces a collaboration program with Massachusetts General Hospital for ZephyrLIFE™ Monitoring System. Massachusetts General earned the top spot in US News and World Report’s annual “Best Hospitals” for 2012. The announcement comes in conjunction with Zephyr’s participation at Partners Connected Healthcare Conference, in Boston, October 25-26.
Massachusetts General Hospital and Zephyr are taking part in a clinical trial evaluating Zephyr’s BioHarness™ and ZephyrLIFE™ Monitoring System. The ZephyrLIFE™ System combines multi-parameter vital signs, encrypted wireless communications and an intuitive notification graphics display to deliver seamless patient monitoring for general care. Zephyr will be previewing the system at the Partners Connected Healthcare Conference, October 25-26 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel.
“Zephyr’s unique, advanced ZephyrLIFE™ System offers the unprecedented ability to monitor movement, ECG, and respiratory rate enabling us to detect arrhythmias, cardiorespiratory de-compensation, pressure ulcer risk and impending falls and to intervene before they reach the level of a catastrophe and it does all of this with a wireless system that is so small the patient will forget they are wearing it,” remarked David A. Brill, MD, FACC, Zephyr’s Chief Medical Officer.
ZephyrLIFE™ consists of the following components: BioModule, ECHO Radio System, and Escalation Engine with Notification Displays on PC and tablet and also includes cellular messaging.
The BioModule, weighing less than 1 oz., is attached with two Holter electrodes and provides ECG, R-R, HR, HRV, Respiration Rate, along with 3D accelerometry to measure posture, position, movement, and activity. ZephyrLIFE™ allows the seamless monitoring of up to 50 patients per instance — providing minute-by-minute updates as well as instant physiological alerts sent to the clinical care team via text message. ZephyrLIFE™ monitors patients throughout the care continuum: in the hospital, in transition and at home.
