PSM Defense Product Description
PSM Defense delivers unprecedented visibility into the condition of military personnel in both training and combat environments. Commanders and Medics can readily identify:
- Dehydration, Stress Level, Heat Injury, Activity Level, Posture, Signs of Life
BioHarness is FDA Approved
PSM equipment is worn during training as well as down range and is extremely light weight. The BioHarness does not impact the soldier’s ability to perform duties and will not cause skin irritation. The harness can also be integrated into combat and training fatigues. The BioHarness is for all front line military squads in both training and active duty scenarios.
PSM Defense is deployed over existing encrypted tactical radio equipment, offers cost effective safety assurance, and enables real-time C2 decision making. Simple Red-Orange-Green (ROG) status is displayed in Zephyr’s OmniSense software or with off-the-shelf Blue Force Tracking software to identify location and condition.

PSM Defense was designed to support requirements for Command & Control (C2); Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and Training Exercises.
C2 – A commander can what his people are doing physically and physiologically in real time. For example, if a solder is due at a rendezvous down range and his posture is stationary and has no radio contact, the Commander knows something is wrong and can immediately take action. Furthermore, if a team is in theater under extreme heat coupled with high activity levels, heat injuries are likely and can be avoided by hydration and job rotation.
TCCC – When a person is injured time is of the essence. The Commander has to know the severity of the injury; when the medic should be mobilized; and ensure the rescue team remains out of harms way. Zephyr’s BioHarnessTM sends real time physiological information over tactical radios to know the severity of the injury. Once at the casualty, the medic can quickly add Zephyr Bluetooth enabled blood pressure and SpO2 sensors to obtain a full clinical view of the patient.
At the casualty collection point the medic can use the BioHarness, SpO2 and blood pressure sensors, streaming live to a PDA or laptop to trend and analyze multiple casualties simultaneously. This removes the constant hand monitoring usually required, and allows the medic to spend more time treating and stabilizing patients. Trend graphs of heart rate, breathing rate, temperature, blood oxygen and blood pressure allows the medic to manage patients and determine if they are stable.
Training – PSM Defense affords great insight into physical fitness and over training, fatigue, sleep and nutrition of soldiers. Physical fitness program results can be quantified for best human performance. Training such as sniper training and other mental loading tasks can be measured via physiological responses and this training effectiveness and personnel selection is possible in a quantifiable way.
